"Feng" translates as wind

"Shui" translates as water

Feng Shui, (pronounced 'fung shway'), is the four thousand year old art of placement and philosophy used to enhance a positive flow of energy and harmony in your environment. This ancient discipline is based on the belief that chi or life force flows everywhere, in people, plants, animals, buildings, hills, rivers, roads etc. If chi is unrestricted and flows smoothly it promotes a healthy uplifting environment.   If chi is blocked, stagnated or moves too quickly it may cause stress, illness or turmoil.   Applying the principles of Feng Shui, adjustments or solutions may be made to create and restore a sense of balance and harmony.

Basic Principles of Feng Shui

Chi
Chi is the animating and universal life force that moves through all things. Harnessing and cultivating positive chi energy in an environment enhances and supports an atmosphere of vitality and well being.

Yin/Yang
The dance of opposites. Everything that exists is an expression of relative opposites such as Dark/Light, Female/Male, Soft/Hard, Cool/Warm etc. Yin energy when in balance is nurturing and harmonious while Yang energy is expressive and dynamic.

The Five Elements
All expressions of nature on Earth can be characterized as having the qualities of one or a combination of Five Elements- Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. Each of the Elements are expressed through color, shape, decor, objects and chi. Placement of the Elements in relation to one another within an environment can either enhance or deplete the chi.

Placement
Whether it's orientation of a building site, the position of an entrance, or room, the furniture or decor, feng shui principles guide us to arrange environments for support, practicality, success, and well being.

The Bagua
There are many different schools of Feng Shui, each having their own template. The Black Sect Feng Shui uses a mapping system or template that identifies the 9 key areas of life: Wealth, Fame, Partnership, Family, Health, Creativity, Wisdom, Career & Helpful people. This template is positioned according to the main entrance of a lot, home or room. The bagua is used to discover deeper understandings of energy dynamics within an environment and to guide the placement of objects to support your intentions.

Personal experience putting Feng Shui principles to work

Dear Damon & Cathy,

Let's commiserate about what your feng shui consultation has meant to me and this household! The first thing it did was to get me unstuck as to clearing this house of so many unneeded, burdensome things that were weighing me down. What a wonderful feeling to get all that weighty stuff out of here. You gave me direction – what a blessing!

The biggest and bestest is the paint job that has literally transformed this home. Not only does it feel wholesome, happy and bright to me but it strikes a positive kind of "wow" to all who come through the door and see it for the first time. Everyone loves it and they go on about how different the house feels. Six months later I am still marveling at the positive warm feeling here.

Switching the paintings in the bedrooms and doing a mantra on the one you put up in my bedroom which is the wealth corner was a great idea. Each day I was reminded to thank God for all the money I was going to get because of the little note on the refrigerator that you recommended. Less than two months later I received a check for $10,000 !!!

Health being the biggest issue for me, I can not say enough about the effect of the pretty yellow in the health center of my house, and the blooming plant pulling positive energy back through the skylight, etc., all going together to make this healthy atmosphere that breeds health in its inhabitants. My health had hit a plateau. After the feng shui was completed, health issues started popping up big time. I am now headed in the right direction and feeling healthier than I have felt in many years.

The latest plus we have noted is the plants are growing and blooming in the house as never before. The Thanksgiving cactus is absolutely gorgeous with the blooms for the very first time. The hibiscus has tripled in size and bloomed all fall. The African violet is the biggest I have ever seen and simply covered with soft pink blooms. What a special gift!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the gifts that have come to this household because I know the two of you. You are unquestionably responsible for shifting my life in wonderful new directions. Bless you both.

Love Sally Chirsty
